Low Tide Art Gallery Now Featuring Local Furniture Makers

Recently here at Low Tide we have decided to include some local furniture makers in our gallery and many people are asking why we think furniture belongs in an art gallery. First off you wont see any Ikea furniture or anything like that, it won't be a show room for mass produced desks or tables. Here in Victoria and other nearby towns there's a large number of custom furniture makers all with their own unique furniture builds, but these custom pieces are so much more than furniture.

Upcoming Exhibit - Kiddy Contasts

Local Vancouver Island artist Alison Bell will be showcasing her most recent drawings starting March 27th. This collection features colorful and quaint depictions of "kiddies" mirroring common human behaviors. For example one of my favorite of her drawings "Pretentious Kiddy" shows a robust cat sitting by a window reading pride and prejudice. One can speculate at the references to pop culture and the attempts people make to conceptually elevate themselves above their peers.
